Bring Your NC driver’s license or other “acceptable photo ID.” A free ID can be obtained at your local County Board of Elections. Learn more: gotidnc.org.
You can register AND vote on the same day by showing current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, another current government document

Vote By Mail
Absentee
Request an absentee ballot by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20. (sooner is better, to ensure it is received by the county board of elections by the deadline).
Military and Overseas Voting: For military and overseas citizen voters only, ballots can be requested (until Nov 2), received, and returned electronically through the absentee portal.
INSTRUCTIONS
Seal the ballot in the container envelope; two witnesses or one notary must sign the envelope
Place a photocopy of an acceptable photo ID in the sleeve on the back of the envelope. Black and white is fine; it must be legible
No acceptable ID? Complete the Photo ID Exception Form included in the ballot package and put it in the sleeve
Return postage is now $1.98 — three Forever stamps
Ballots can also be returned in person to the county board, or to any early voting site in the county during Oct. 15–31

Provisional Ballots: If you go to the wrong precinct, or are told you can’t vote a regular ballot for another reason, ask for a provisional ballot! You also have the right to ask for an ID exception form if you aren't able to present an ID when voting.
If you’re denied a provisional ballot, call 888-OUR-VOTE (888-687-9683) immediately.
Assistance: A close family member may help you vote; voters with a disability or difficulty reading may get help from anyone (except their employer or union agent).
Curbside Voting: Available if you can’t reach the voting room due to age, a physical or mental disability, or if you have an illness or medical condition. Problems voting curbside? Call 888-OUR-VOTE
